The boys were publicly dedicated last Sunday at church. It was a special day that Mike and I were able to acknowledge that we would raise the boys in a Christian home always having the Gospel before them. Sometimes when I think about raising them I think about wanting to share stories out of the Bible with them, but also hoping that the discussion around our home, as we are in the car, at the park, etc, will always be sweetened by the Gospel and that it will be apart of our daily conversations. We love these babies and are so very thankful that the Lord gave them to us!!! I am still amazed!
A phrase that we had on our program and other items at our wedding (it is also on our title blog) is this:
That phrase remains upon our hearts even more strongly as we enter parenthood.
At their dedication, Mike sang a song by Hillsong called "None but Jesus." This song was played all the time the weeks before the boys were born and became very real to us after their birth. At the time they were in the NICU, there were so many unknowns and a line in that song says "in the chaos, in confusion, you are sovereign still." We just loved that song during that time. Our prayer is that boys find their delight in "none but Jesus!"
Also, the boys have just developed so much within the past month. Both boys are active scooters and take off! They are so quick! Michael can clap now - even if you don't hear the clapping noise, he can put his hands together and make the motion. (We are so proud!). He also makes clicking noises with his tongue and spitting noises with his lips. It is very amusing! They can also pull up now on items that are leaning on the ground (Carseat, play table, some toys, our laps).
I can't believe that they are going to be one years old in less then two months - it is unreal! I am going to start getting things ready for their birthday party - which will be a Children's Book Theme! I am starting to work on all the details and I look forward to all the fun!!!
The boys are doing well with their foods - The pediatrician said we can start table foods in about another week, so I have been making their food more chunkier to prepare for that. They are also able to hold their bottles and sippy cups themselves and even pace themselves rather well. They are just getting so big!
The boys went through their first "close-call" tornado evening last night. We had some tornado warnings when we were in Pensacola, but last night we had one that was less then a mile from our house. Anyone that knows me knows I do not function very well with tornadoes! Well, Mike was at church and I was nursing the boys on the couch when the sirens went off. So I stood up (With the babies still latched on) and waddled to the closet. I finished nursing the boys in the closet, then heard that a tornado was near, so I put the babies in their carseats and put them in the tub. (I thought it was the safest idea). The storms cleared up and Mike got back from church. We put the babies to bed and the sirens went off again. This time the tornado was less then a mile away - so we got the babies and sat in the bathtub with them. Thankfully they didn't wake up and we were able to put them back to bed with no problem. And we survived!!!
As far as Mike and myself goes, we are doing rather well. We are very busy with things at church - February has been a busy month for us. We have had a youth girls brunch, the dedication, a pampered chef party, Disciple Now and next week is a Lock-in. Hopefully March won't be so busy, since I know April will be packed with Easter, the boys party, and both sides of the family coming to visit.
Here are some pictures to catch everyone up!
Michael was asleep and I told mom to take a picture of it and she thought I said to wake him up. So she did - and this is the look he gave her!
