Need Help!!!

Alright Guys - We need help! I might be changing our nursery decor! I need some advice, or sense knocked into me!!!

Here is what I am feeling: I feel very scattered and I feel like things are not coming together. I know this is probably just pregnancy hormone issues (wow - do I have pregnancy hormone issues - Praise the Lord for a gracious and patient husband! I Love you, Mike!). When I planned my wedding I had EVERYTHING in place - My wedding was my dream - I would spend nights laying awake before we were even engaged thinking on how I wanted my wedding. Everything I dreamed of happened! I was such an organized bride and had all the details in place. I, honestly, do not remember being stressed over it. I guess I imagined planning for a baby (or two!) would be the same way. Wow - am I wrong! I might just need to get over it and realize that I am not going to be able to be completley organized for these kids, especially with us moving in a few months. whew!

So, I dreamed about how I would want to do my nursery one day and so forth. Now that I am pregnant, I feel like things just aren't coming together and I feel that I made a mistake and purchased a "sissy" nursery for our two manly boys! I found a set on e-bay that I was able to purchase for real cheap! Our set is "Starlight" by Wendy Bellissimo (Picture Below).

It is Green, Yellow, and Blue and has a Lamb Mobile and Faint Stars on the blanket. Mike always said that lambs were too sissy and I would respond by saying they are babies - they can be lambs! Well now that it is more and more setting into me that we are having boys I am rethinking this nursery idea. It is definetly not the nursery I "dreamed" of.

We found this set that is new at Babies R Us. It is called "My Little MVP" and is a sports theme. (Pictured Below) Very manly and I really like the colors of blue, burgundy, etc... I also already have curtains and rugs that would match this set.

My thinking is that I can sell my entire set on ebay and make about $100 extra then what we paid for it all, and then purchase the new set (and still have some money left over). But another dilemma is that the sports theme will be fine for boys (Even through their toddler years), but if I have a girl next then it won't work very well.

So here is my question for all you bloggers out there:

1. Am I just being pregnant and should I just get over it and keep the set I have?
2. Should I sell the starlight and pick out a "manly, gender neutral" set that can be used for girls too?
3. Should I sell the starlight and go for the "all boy" set and just hope we have all boys?

I guess I just want to feel that things are together in their room and not just "thrown" together. Emotions, I know, I just need to deal - huh?

go with what will make you feel good about it - the manly set. You won't have much (or anything) to buy with baby #3, so you'll be able to invest in bedding if its a girl - and I'm sure grandparents, church, ect would be willing to help out with that. There's my though - don't think about baby #3 yet - its a long ways off.

Miss you!

Molly-
When I was pregnant with Georgia (but before we knew she was a Georgia:-), I really wanted to do a 'neutral' bedding set that could be used for multiple children. But then we started looking at the sets, and Nathan and I felt that none of them were truly neutral, or appealing. Many were too 'sissy' for boys, and too dull for girls. Then, we learned we were having a girl, and only something more feminine worked (and it wasn't a set--more a color scheme) for me and my heart. We are pregnant again, and if we are having a boy, I will have to buy more bedding and curtains...and that is fine with me.

Something to think about--will the bedding set you prefer (the manly one) grow with the boys some? For instance, could they use the curtains or quilt in their 'toddler' room? If so, then the bedding set is an investment for several years. It will be something that can grow with them. You can sell your current set on Ebay or Craig's List and at least recup what you spent on it. Or you can sell the bedding at a large consignment sale (Raleigh has a children's consignment twice a year; louisville may as well). When your next child comes along, you can use the same resources to look for a good deal on another bedding set.

Go with your gut--yes, you are more emotional than normal, but you want to enjoy your children's room, and to have them enjoy it. You want it to grow with them as they become active babies and toddlers, not just newborns. It is perfectly okay to change your mind!!

This is such an exciting time. Don't let the irritations steal your enjoyment--if something does not sit right with you, like the bedding, change it. You guys are in our prayers!

Molly- you should do the MVP set that you like for sure!! Don't worry about the money or investment for the future-it is worth having that settled feeling and really liking what you have. I want you to come see me soon! I miss talking to you all day-every day... If you are not busy some time in the next few days-call me and you can come over. My in-laws are in town now, but are leaving either tomorrow or Sunday-I'll let you know. I am praying for you-I know it has been tough for you this week... :) It has to get better-and then it will be time for you to quit working!!

Okay I am going to be the complete opp. here. I say go with the cheaper one and save your money for co-pays at the dr.s etc (they are at least 15/child/visit). We did the neutral for the "baby" room and they buy their toddler/preschool stuff with their interest in mind. THey may not even like sports and want something different when they are 2 or 3. Isaac is all into spiderman/superheros and Grace shares a room with him until #3 Owen is old enough to move in with his older brother and give sis her own room. But then again #4 could be on the way then.

I guess I am just thinking practical with him being busy and not making a lot right now. Last month we spent over 150 dollars in co-pays because the kids were sick, then with Grace's leg etc. You never know when you might need the money. So you may think you will have the extra money when you have #3 to buy new stuff, but you might not.

HOpe that helps, just my 2 cents. Enjoy.

I can totally understand what you're saying about wanting it to be more manly. But I have to say, that Starlight is my dream bedding! :) If you are planning on selling it, PLEASE let me know what you are asking, etc. I would be VERY interested! GL!
