Yummy in our tummies!

Today was the day. We started the boys on foods today - well actually, just rice cereal! We gave them their first batch while Mike was home for lunch so he could join in all the fun! The boys did pretty good. The both weren't quite sure about it, but we attempted again at dinner and they did much better. Jeremiah really liked it and just kept eating it - I made him stop, so that I wouldn't over stuff him! Michael just tolerated it - he took a few bites and then made it very clear to Mike that he was not interested any more. Mike made several more attempts before giving him some water to wash it down!

We had lots of fun practicing! I also made two batches of foods today as well - pears and apples! Tomorrow I will be making Green beans, sweet potatoes, and bananas! It was so much fun - I took some pictures of the process for your enjoyment.

We also had another exciting surprise today - my good friend from Jacksonville, Christina came to visit us with her son Benton. Christina and I did summer missions together for two summer and we had not seen each other since our wedding - what a treat!

Here are some pictures (and videos) of our exciting day today!

Our day started off exciting. Jeremiah woke up early, and while Mike and Jeremiah were waiting for me to get ready to feed, he fell back asleep. We had to take a picture, because that rarely happens. They were both so sleepy!

Here is how I made the batches so far:

Here are the pears

I cut the pears and put them in the dish

I cut and pealed apples and put them in a pot to boil

Once they are cooked I pureed them in the blender
Poured them into ice trays and froze them
I made a total of 64 ounces of baby food. All for $4.45! (And two hours of work!)

We have made all our own baby food, and I just wanted to tell you that the BIG jar of unsweeted applesauce is the same as making your own. So you can usally get 36 oz. for about 1.36 or 1.58 (depending on the place you buy), we always bought that for our little ones.

may want to buy jar baby food for carrots (those have to be tested for the amount of something in them to keep them safer for babies). Those are the one food that can get dangerous to make at home. I can't think of what it is off the top of my head.
