A few days shy of a month old! (Dr. apt. update)

We went to the pediatrician today so that I could go to the lactation consultant. Things are getting better in the breastfeeding world, however I still have the yeast infection and I think once that goes away, things will be much more pleasant. Since my mom left, I have tried to breastfeed them both at the same time a couple of times, but I have been by myself and it has been overwhelming. So the plan for now is to breast feed them twice a day at the same time and the other times nurse them one at a time (if I am by myself) or if Mike is home I will nurse one while Mike gives the other a bottle. The nursed real well at the office today and I think I just need to really focus on each one of them instead of rushing to get them both nursing at the same time. (I am sure that soon it will happen - we will be doing this for a year, so its bound to happen!) She did say that I still have to pump like I have been, so I need to rent the pump for another month :(.

On the boys: They are growing so well - Michael is now 5 lbs 14 oz and Jeremiah is 5 lbs 13 oz! They have gained an ounce a day since Thursday which is right on target! We are so proud of them - they are just taking off!

They also had a very good night last night. After their 10:30pm feeding we had a spa treatment :) I had everything ready for them in the nursery (PJ's, diapers, etc...) and I had the lights real low and it was super quiet. I want them to know that after that feeding, it is SLEEP TIME! So, I got them ready for bed nice and quiet, and slowly - didn't rush them. And I rubbed some night time baby lotion all over them. Once I swaddled them, I held them real close as I put them in their crib and they were OUT like a light until 3:00 (That is 4 1/2 hours!!!!) Mike and I were so excited when they started crying and we saw that is was three! So, when we fed them at 3 we fed them in the nursery with the lights off and we fed them real quietly and only changed their diaper if they were poopy. I held them close as I put them in the crib, and once again, they were out and they didn't wake me up until 6:30 (which is the first morning feeding anyways). Super excited again! I have heard of a lot of babies sleeping through the night at 6 weeks - which would be great, but for being preemies I don't know if that will work - so our goal is that by the time we move, they will be sleeping through the night - let's hope!

Sounds like they are doing great!

Be careful...some people say their babies sleep throught the night, but it would only be 6 hours. OUr ped. told us that when they go 6 hours it is through the night. Doesn't count in my book. When I lay down at night and I wake up with my head still on the pillow then they slept through the night.

So Grace started going 12 hours at 8 weeks and Isaac was almost 4 months and Owen about 5 months.

YOu will almost forget what it is like to be sleep deprived. Hang in there it goes real fast. Owen now goes down at 7:30 and wakes at 7:30 and it is so nice. It will be here before you know it.

Yay! Good job boys! I think your plan for breastfeeding is a good one. It definitely took all of my concentration to breastfeed Josiah at first, so doing two is going to take some getting used to-don't rush it. Like you said-you have plenty of time!! :) I'm sure you know this-but I read not to go longer than 5 hours until 8 weeks and then not to go longer than 10 hours right after that. I'm not sure when you can go more than 10, but Josiah is not there yet anyway, so I'll figure that out when he starts doing it. :)
