The Lord blessed us so graciously at midnight this morning with two beautiful little boys. As Laura said, Michael was born at 12:07 and Jeremiah was born at 12:30. Both weight 4 pounds 12 ounces, both were 18 inches long, and both peed on the doctor AND stuck out their tongues while they did it! :) What do you expect - their boys!!! It was a very smooth and easy delivery and we couldn't have asked for any better. My water broke around 6:45 and we came straight to the hospital. They started prepping me at 7:15 and by 8:00 I was in my room and IMMEDIATELY requested an epidural. I was not about to do this natural. I only had around 45 minutes of contractions that were painful and that was plenty for me to experience. Out of this whole process the epidural was the most uncomfortable (So far). He had to do it three times before it would take and so I was contracting every minute and a half during the ordeal, while leaning on the side of the bed. I was glad when he got it to work and I was done with that. It kicked in almost immediately. Whoever invented that was a genius! We were done with the epidural by 9 pm and she checked me and I was a full 6cm. When she came in at 11:30 to check me I was already at a 10! We were shocked. She said the normal first time pregnancy does not progress that quickly - but hey, we all know - I am NOT the normal pregnant woman!
At 11:45 we were taken to the OR and we started pushing a few minutes before midnight. Every contraction they want you to push three times. It took 3 contractions and Michael Dean Spivey was born. He came out screaming, and they put him on me right away. Once Mike cut the cord the Neonatoligist took him to the warmer and they started getting his vitals. We had to wait around 15 minutes for Jeremiah to make his way down. While we waited they took Michael up to the NICU because he was whimpering and having a hard time breathing. That was probably the "Weirdest" moment - knowing that we already delivered a son and had one left to deliver. It's hard to describe - it was surreal. Once Jeremiah got in position she broke his water and it only took me 2 contractions and Jeremiah Haddon Spivey was born. He FLEW out at the end and Dr. Nett had to "catch" him! He also came out screaming and was taken to the NICU for the same reasons as his brother within 10 minutes.
Once we got to our room, MIke went up to check on the boys, while I was getting settled in with the nurse. We went to go see them around 4:30 and they were doing "ok". Michael is doing better then Jeremiah. Jeremiah is still having a breathing tube and Michael is now breathing on his own. The nurse said that the treatments that they are on are the least evasive. The whole time we were there Jeremiah was whimpering :(. They said he is just having a harder time transitioning and is having to work harder then his brother at breathing. I was told that we can hold Michael this morning and Jeremiah might be ready to be held by this evening as long as he is doing ok. Right when we got up there the nurse asked if we minded if she took Michael's blood. I said that was fine that I didn't think I was going to be a mom that cried when their kids got shots - I WAS WRONG! IT was so sad! I lost it! But I have a good excuse - I just delivered twins 4 hours earlier - just a tad emotional!
Well, sorry for the long post - we are waiting for my doctor to come in and then we will go see the boys. Anyone is welcome to come up if they would like. Please just call prior to make sure we are in the room and not pumping. Here are the pictures that we have so far of the boys. They have not had a bath yet, because they want them to be more stabilized - so that is why they still have "womb hair."

Michael with his pacifier - he was already sucking real well, which is great!

Hopefully we will get more pictures of Jeremiah today. He was still struggling last night so we didn't take many pictures of him.
Please continue to pray for these boys! God was so gracious and protected us throughout this pregnancy and we trust that He will continue to protect the boys!
I will update soon depending on how I feel.

Hey mike and Molly,
Congrats mom and dad!!! What beautiful boys. Can't wait to meet them. Was excited to read about your experience. Take advantage of all the pampering you get at Norton. That's great, and get lots of rest cause you'll need it. Give the boys kisses for me!! Praying for you and your little blessings.
Love you all,
