We had lunch with some church members after church today - The Beall's (Griffin and Collin's parents) The boys had so much fun playing with all the cool toys that Collin and Griffin have and it was so nice to sit and an adult table while the boys sat at the kid table. They did great - they stayed in their seat and ate lunch very well - I was proud of them!
We didn't get back home until 3:30 and I tried to lay the boys down for a nap - Michael went right to sleep but Jeremiah never fell asleep. I am not sure how he stayed awake as long as he did!
After church tonight we went over to the Pournelle's for dinner. I was very excited about this - as I have really wanted to get to know this family, but we were eating at 7 pm (Which is the boys bedtime - and remember Jeremiah never took a nap?) and so I was a bit nervous on how it would play out. On the way to church I gave the boys a pep talk on how they were suppose to eat at the table, etc. I am pleased to report that they did GREAT! They sat at the table the WHOLE time - ate their food and were very obedient! I was so proud and it made for a very relaxed and fun evening! We had a great time talking with adults and sharing stories while the boys played nicely, were cute, and provided some fun entertainment. I have been really answering some questions with the Lord on my motives for discipline on the boys and have really experienced some freedom on just raising the boys to be men of God based on what the LORD is leading us to do vs. what a "book", blog, friends, or pressure from society on how my boys should act and behave. Yes, I want them to be obedient - I think that is very important, but I want to raise sweet boys that love Jesus more than anything, not robots that look like what I think they should look like. Ahh - freedom! 'Tis so sweet! There is much sanctification in parenting - it is NOT for the faint at heart!
The daily picture today is sweet to me! Every night when the boys are in bed, Mike goes in and holds each of them and prays with them. The other night he didn't do it and he went in their to check on them just a few minutes after bed and Michael stood up and kept declaring "Pray!" - so sweet!
I was able to get a picture of him praying with them. Michael is on the left and Jeremiah is the right. The lights in the room were off, but my flash makes it look so bright! I love how Michael's face is - I think the flash made that response! Ha!
So thankful that the Lord chose Mike to be my husband and the father of our boys! All three of us are blessed ;)
